The Plant is a reimagined industrial campus in Jackson’s Fondren Warehouse District that functions as a design laboratory for TREE Urban Design + Landscape Architecture Studio.

A LIVING LABORATORY

Originally built as a pipe distribution plant in the 1960s, The Plant has been reclaimed as an adaptive reuse landmark in Jackson’s Fondren Warehouse District. Today, it operates as a design studio, landscape architecture campus, and a living laboratory for experimenting with plants, materials, and concepts.

REIMAGINING OUR CITY

Our practice is focused on post-industrial cities grappling with depopulation and disinvestment, where design can act as a catalyst for new forms of urban life. Jackson, Mississippi has become a central testing ground for these ideas, an opportunity to explore landscape urbanism approaches that integrate ecology, mobility, and public space. By reimagining the city’s landscapes as connective infrastructure, TREE seeks to spark economic reinvestment, strengthen cultural identity, and inspire the next generation to live, work, and create within the urban core rather than beyond it.
