From intimate gatherings to wedding days, it’s hard not to fall in love with a thoughtfully designed head table or communal tablescape. There is so much to love about them and at The Plant Venue, we make it simple with our flexible spaces and in-house furniture inventory included in every rental!

Read more about how to add your own personal flair into the finer details with small yet impactful accents such as beautiful floral arrangements, elegant glassware, personalized name cards, warm candles, and much more. We understand how significant this day will be to you, and hosting an event with us should always feel seamless and effortless, regardless of what the occasion might be!

Regardless if you choose to find fun in sourcing your own decor or if you’d would rather leave it all up to an event professional, knowing how you can add your own style to the little things will take you far!

For Claire + Micah, they had lots of help from the Mother of the Bride to create their two stunning communal tablescapes with extra round table seating on either side in The Atrium. The table setting included all of the best decor elements: funky-shaped candles, accent arrangements, a velvet table runner, vintage glassware, and multi-colored tablecloths. These thoughtful accents displayed on our custom wooden birch tables created an inviting seating area during their boho-inspired reception!

⇧ If you’re feeling bold, you can DIY a hanging floral arrangement like Claire’s mom Patti Gordon & Peggy Smith created to hang over the bride and groom table at the far end of The Atrium! Their design was cleverly reinforced by a long chainlink to assure it was stable throughout the event.

Here are the basic items you need to make the ultimate tablescape for your guests:

  • Assorted Candles

  • Placemats & Tablecloths

  • At Least One Large Centerpiece

  • Multiple Small Floral Vases

  • Central Table Runner

  • Accent Glassware

  • Plates & Silverware

Cris + Ramsay’s wedding day will always live rent free in our minds. With rentals, floral designs, classic tablescape features, and lighting installations by Fresh Cut Catering & Floral, their communal head table was the main focal point in The Atrium. Similar to The Groue’s, they added in our round tables along the window wall for additional seating and brought in the charming wooden farm table as a staple piece.

Fresh Cut added all the finishing touches, including a central hanging floral arrangement, long draping white fabric, modern light fixtures, and glass-covered candles that came together to transform the space. Benefits of working with an event professional are endless, but the most obvious is that the setup and installation isn’t yours to worry about on the day of the event!

⇧ We couldn’t make a blog about tablescapes without including this timeless head table design by Jennifer Mullen Events & Designs for a styled shoot in The Atrium! This moody, natural setup included a floral centerpiece with assorted candles by The Willow Blu, curated glassware and plate ware from Nuage Designs and The Pulchritude Company, invitations by Jade Social, a stunning black velvet tablecloth, and the perfect rattan hanging light fixtures from Galleries of Jackson.

Here’s what we recommend to make your tablescape stand out:

  • Choose a Cohesive Color Scheme

  • Opt for Unique Fabric Textures

  • Rent Unique Accent Chairs

  • Add a Hanging Floral Arrangement

  • Use Draping Fabric in Lofted Areas

  • Rent Hanging Light Fixtures

In conclusion, while creating a tablescape can be a straightforward DIY project that anyone can undertake, collaborating with an event designer offers numerous advantages that enhance the overall experience. Event designers bring valuable resources and connections, ensuring that your vision is executed with precision and style. They can provide access to unique decor items, professional insights on color schemes and layouts, and the ability to work collaboratively on your concept, ultimately elevating the final result. This partnership not only saves time and stress, but also transforms your initial ideas into a beautifully cohesive setup that impresses guests and fits the occasion perfectly.
