Five Tips on Planning a Successful Event
By Ansley Crabtree
Congratulations, you’ve made the big decision to reserve your date with us (that’s a huge step in the planning process)! Once you secure your location for the event, you may find yourself lost on what to do next. Don’t worry, we’re here to help guide you on how to plan a successful and stress-free event.
At The Plant Venue, we do our best to put as much information here on the website as possible to be transparent about our offerings, policies, and suggestions after seeing hundreds of wedding days take place at the venue.
Throughout this blog, you will find five tips to get you started on your planning journey. It may sound self-explanatory to some, but if you have never hosted a large event before, sometimes it helps to have a little direction — espeically from the owners of the venue!

Tip #1: Collaborate! Even if you’re planning to DIY most of your event, we still recommend consulting with an event planner, designer, and other event professionals to assist in bringing your visions to life. Event planners have contacts and experience to guide you through where to rent furniture accents, how to create unique backdrops, and to coordinate things you may not think about on your own like flipping a space from ceremony to reception layout or how to direct guests where to go during cocktail hour.
Tip #2: Get creative! Even for our DIY experts, it can be easy and effective to add in interactive accent tables and thoughtful guest experiences throughout the venue to help make an environment inspired by you. Claire + Micah chose to include a polaroid guest book at the entry to The Courtyard and a coffee station at the botanical catering bar in The Atrium to add special touches for their guests!

Tip #3: Choose trusted vendors! After our first year in business, we had a deep understanding of the difference working with quality vendors can make at any event large or small. Even if you are dead-set on the do-it-yourself route, we still highly recommend working with trusted event professionals like caterers, bar service, coordinators, florists, rental companies, and photographers to not feel so alone on the day of your event. Just the presence of an experienced vendor can help alleviate stress off yourself!
Here on our website, we have an online vendor directory to help you get connected to vendors that have serviced events in our space before and have delivered quality service to past event hosts!
Tip #4: Schedule a planning walkthrough! It never hurts to revisit the venue in person to help visualize each area, especially as you bring more vendors on to bring your event to life. We highly recommend meeting with your vendors like the planner, coordinator, caterer, entertainment, and florist at the venue to discuss and finalize your plans before the event. Reach out here to get a planning walkthrough on the books with us today!
Tip #5: Have fun with it! Embrace the opportunity to fully express yourself in our modern, minimalist environment that adapts to every aesthetic. The Plant Venue offers natural elements, large white walls, and historic industrial character — the perfect backdrop to bring any event design to life as art!
Planning an event should be exciting and stress-free. We are always available here to answer questions, accommodate vendor requests, and help make your event experience effortless!
